Investment banker Colin Hall was bashed over the head with a champagne bottle in a San Tropez nightclub, apparently for talking to an Oxford law student fifteen years his junior. Hall, 35, who we have been told by sources worked at UBS, was talking to twenty-year Laura Clegg, the social secretary at Oxford’s law society, when he was attacked. The police are looking for Oxford student John Washington, who is also an American. Colin is said to be in serious condition in a French hospital.

I went to school with her and her Daddy did not pay for her to get into Oxford, she got all A(*)'s from GCSE onwards so Chris shut the fuck up.

I go to college with Laura, and know at least 7 people that she has slept with in a year at Oxford - all powerful people from Oxford Union or whatever irrespective of size, colour and personality!

I also go to college with Laura, and she is a genuinely lovely girl. There is nothing wrong with someone that is running in Union elections to want people from their college to support them.
If you go to any other university in the UK, you'll find people that sleep-around all the time, yet nothing is said about them! There is no proof that she has ever been promiscuous. The newspapers should be reporting the incident, not trying to make a moral judgement on someone who was just unlucky to be caught in the middle of it. I don't see why some of the newspapers are so desperate to try and portray her as a nasty piece of work. If it was a student from any other university I'm sure they wouldn't be so harsh. Most of the stories about her in the newspapers seem to be completely untrue. She is a pretty, bright girl so shes bound to have spiteful comments made about her. I don't understand why some of the articles concentrate on her so much more than Mr Washington. She should only be mentioned briefly as she has done nothing wrong, and the comments could potentially be really hurtful.
