So Bad It Hurts

Robert Murphy is surprised to find that the economics writing in the free, pocket-sized “L Magazine” is really, really bad. Our favorite part of his take-down comes when Murphy tries to parse claim that "it takes 35 calories of fuel to bring a 5-calorie strawberry from California to New York."
I'm also not sure what to make of her favorite environmentalist one-liner. The rationale for shipping strawberries from California to New York is twofold:1. It's much easier to grow tasty strawberries in California;
2. New Yorkers don't have tongues that are 3,000 thousand miles long.
As Bess Levin would say--Burn!
